The Panamanian government’s proposal is that Panama is incorporated into the Central America trade talks with the EU, but without joining first the Central American Integration System (SIECA). “We want to join the partnership agreement to further stimulate the integration to SIECA, a more extensive and complex process and that could be sustained with Panama and still within the FTA,” said Minister of Commerce and Industry of Panama, Roberto Henriquez.

The Panamanian offer would add to the negotiations for broader and more encompassing offer of the Central American market, but without affecting the progress made to date by the other countries of the region, said the Minister Henriquez.

The Panamanian minister reiterated that the regional economic integration agenda should be “seen in that context and not subject to commercial negotiation processes and the integration agenda that requires time, form and long-term conditions that have nothing to do with a negotiation trade with the rest of the region. ”

On another issue, the proprietor of trade of Holland expressed the interest of his government to begin negotiations with Panama for treaty to avoid double taxation.
