In an effort to increase the touristic appeal of Panama City’s Carnivals, the Mayor of Panama Bosco Vallarino, declared that the 2010 Carnival will be held in the Coastal Strip (Cinta Costera on Avenida Balboa). The Carnivals used to be held in Transistmica Avenue.
The Cinta Costera opened last June.
This idea was suggested recently by the Minister Salomon Shamah, the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP).
According Vallarino, the “green areas are for the enjoyment that people” and therefore saw no objection to the capital of carnival celebrations which take place in the coastal belt.
The mayor of Panama must now plan where would be the locations of the required facilities to host this event.
Carnivals in 2010 will be held from February 13-16
